  • 1.Promote intercropping practices in Mediterranean peanuts;
  • 2.Assess the impact of intercropping practices on pest and weed management in Mediterranean almond orchards;
  • 3.Valuing the nutritional properties of almonds and crops used in intercropping;
  • 4.Assessment of the economic, social and environmental impacts of the practices examined;
  • 5.Increase the skills of agri-food agents and sharing intercropping practices for sustainable agriculture among Mediterranean countries;
  • A1 – Potential of intercropping practices in Mediterranean peanuts.
  • A2 – The role of intercropping in pest and weed control as a tool for promoting sustainability in peanuts.
  • A3 – Analysis of the nutritional and functional properties of almonds and associated crops produced in the demonstration fields of VALMEDALM.

  • Increase farmers’ incomes, including other possible sources of income linked to agriculture and ensure transparency and a fair price structure along the value chain.
  • Promote access to work for young workers and women.
  • Allow access to markets, that is, ensure access of local producers to distribution channels and markets, providing the general population with healthy and sustainable products.
  • Improve sustainable food production systems with efficient use of natural resources and ecological processes with low GHG emissions.
  • Reduce food losses along production and supply chains, including post-harvest losses and the potential recovery of resulting waste.
