This initiative aims to characterize, evaluate and objectify the value of the ecosystem service provided by bees and beekeeping, valuing its contribution to the sustainability and resilience of territories.

Strategic operational objectives:

  • Promote the sustainable use of land, water and biodiversity;
  • Promote agricultural and agroforestry ecosystem services;
  • Maintain and increase agricultural areas in the agroforestry territories most vulnerable to the risk of rural fires;
  • Promote the sustainability of extensive agriculture and livestock;

  • Activity 2 – AS DOP of Portuguese Honey in the territory: characterization and impact study
  • Activity 3 – Quick quality and genuineness testing methodologies of DOP Melons from Portugal

  • Digital application to support the beekeeping pollination bag;
  • Apiculture Aptitude Certificate;

  • Contributions to the Update of the Specifications of Portuguese Honey PDO;
  • Study of the possibility of creating methodologies that can be used to discriminate the honey from different PDO regions;
  • Creation of the Mel Virtual Store
