Susana Araújo holds a PhD in Biology awarded by Instituto de Tecnologia Química e Biológica- Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Portugal. She is an Auxilliary Researcher at MORE CoLAB being presently the Scientific Coordinator of the Mountains Environment and Ecosystems Management group (ECO). Beside her role in projects aiming the restoration of degraded ecosystems, she is participating in initiatives focused on conservation and valorization of endogenous resources, relevant for the agrifood sector of TrásosMontes“ region. In collaboration with strategic partners, she has focused her interest on the deployment of innovative solutions to reorient the primary production sector towards more profitable productive models, circulars, with minor ecological footprint and adapted to Climate Change constraints, promoting sustainable socioeconomic growth of mountain regions. She has competences in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology and Physiology that she used for studying the plant´s response towards abiotic stresses, namely legume plants. Later, she specialized in Seed Biology and Technology.
